Rare Georgian 18th Century Yew Wood Wine Table (England, circa 1750)
Rare Georgian 18th Century Yew Wood Wine Table (England, circa 1750)
An Extremely Rare And Charming Mid 18th Century, George II Period, Solid Yew Wood Wine Table, Retaining Exceptional Untouched Colour And Patina Throughout, Having Superbly Figured Circular Tilting Top Over Elegant Turned Central Column Terminating With Tripod Base.
Its challenging to put into words just how beautiful this little georgian tripod table is. Certainly there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that it is one for the purists, the connoisseur, the collector, or actually just anybody who has any kind of affinity for beautiful 18th century furniture at all.
It has aged wonderfully and is extremely untouched, retaining a gorgeous rich colour and patina, or skin we sometimes refer to it in the trade. The three plank top has obtained a little shrinkage over the years and there are a couple of very small historic repairs, but these add to the charm rather than detract from the piece in any way whatsoever.
It is extremely unusual to find one of these little tables constructed from yew wood and remaining in such lovely honest condition.
From a practical perspective it is of course still extremely functional, the perfect little size to use in a whole variety of speces around the home.
This is a personal favourite of ours and we have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that it will be off to a good home very soon where it will be loved, cherished and adored for many years to come yet.
