An Extremely Good Quality Early George II Period Pair Of Solid Walnut Side Chairs, Of Exceptional Colour And Patina Throughout, With Carved & Pierced Decoration To Top Of Shaped Solid Back Splat, Over Drop In Seats Raised On Elegant Bold Cabriole Legs, United By H Stretchers, With Turned Pad Feet.

A lovely example of the steretypical early georgian side chair, this pair of chairs are constructed from lovely quality, solid walnut timber which has great depth to it and retains a lovely untouched colour and patina. The small area of carved decoration and the little bit of piercing at the top of the back is also very typical of the restrained early georgian style on this type of furniture. In fact they have somewhat of an english country house feel to their design.

The chairs have real elegance, whilst also being incredibly functional and there is no doubt whatsoever that they are still very much fit for original purpose. They would suit a wide variety of spaces around the home, including as bedroom side chairs, hall chairs, desk chairs, or even as a couple of additional occasional dining chairs.

The chairs have removable, drop in seats, which means that should one wish to cover them in a different fabric post purchase this is a very easy and inexpensive task to perform. There is very little restoration, or structural defects to speak of, but its worth noting there are a couple of historic, well carried out repairs to the pad feet. One thing which is nice about these repairs however is that the original feet have been retained, as opposed to totally new pieces of wood being used.

As with all items which we offer for sale these 18th century chairs have been inspected by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure they are in great condition and ready for immediate placement before being offered for sale.
