A Very Good Quality Mid 18th Century Chippendale Period Georgian Mahogany Chest, Having Well Figured Top Over Slide And Four Long Drawers, Retaining Original Brass Swan Neck Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Shaped Bracket Feet.

Whilst a relatively commonly found design and form for a Georgian Chest of this period, this particualr chest boasts some exceptional features which set it apart from many. These include the exceptional quality of construction, the use of the well figured, rich mahogany timbers and the practical dimensions.

The colour and patina throughout remain excellent and overall it is in good condition with very little restoration, or damage of consequence to speak of. The retention of its original brass handles and its original bracket feet is another indicator of how well loved and cherished this item has been throughout the years of its life.

Perfect for use in a variety of different rooms around the home this chest is incredibly functional and is still as fit for purpose as the day it was made. It’s even just about small enough to serve a purpose as a bedside table if required.

We believe this chest is great value for something so beautiful which offers so much function and will go on to be used and utilised for many years to come by the eventual purchaser.

As with all items we offer for sale this georgian mahogany chest has been examined in our workshops by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish, before being presented for sale.

Stylistically they are very similar indeed and they would work well together in a room as a matched pair of georgian chests. There are of course obvious differences in dimensions (although these are pretty minor) and the timber is slightly different, but overall they certainbly sit well together in terms of handles, feet, having a slide and just overall look. Where possible we will not charge to bring the item/s out to you and place them in position in your home then take them away again should you choose not to purchase them. On some occasions there may be a nominal charge to cover the cost of our approval service, but this will always be discussed and explained to you in advance of our visit.

Please make it very clear when enquiring about an item, or items, if you intend to use the approval service as it must be agreed with us in advance of any further discussions re delivery timescales etc.
