A Superb Mid 18th Century Solid Mahogany Circular Drop Leaf Dining Table, To Seat 8-10 People, Having Superbly Figured Top Of Good Untouched Colour And Patina Raised On Six Elegant Turned Legs Terminating On Original Pad Feet.

It is most rare to find a Georgian drop leaf dining table of this type which is as large as this one. It is also quite rare to find a circular one, as opposed to the normal oval, or even rectangular.

This is a superb example of its type, constructed from what would have been the absolute best solid mahogany available in the mid 18th century and because of that the table is still as fit for purpose as the day it was made. Occasionally we have seen large drop leaf tables of this period with just the four legs, which means once they are open it can be rather unstable, but there is no such problem at all with this table as the additional two legs (6 in total) mean that it is as solid as can be even with both leaves up.

Of course another tick on the desirability scale for this table is that it can be easily folded down and even pushed against a wall, or into a corner when not in full use, meaning one does not require such a large dining room as may otherwise have been required. The table also retains a fabulous untouched colour and patina and has very clearly not ever been stripped and repolished or anything like that.

Seating 8, or possibly even 10, people and of genuine circular shape this table is one of one of the most desirable antique dining table forms available and would work with a whole variety of different dining chairs, in a whole variety of different settings from a formal townhouse dining room to a country cottage kitchen diner.

It has been through our workshops where it has been simply cleaned, any loose joints tightened and naturally waxed using traditional antique furniture restoration techniques, leaving it ready to go straight into use in your home.
