A very charming and extremely unusual mid-19th century
miniature shop counter having paneled front with carved
decoration and four paneled sliding doors to rear

(Much discussion is often had regarding whether some items of
miniature furniture were made as apprentice pieces, which is
when a craftsmen who is looking for a job at a workshop
would create something to showcase their talents, or whether
they were made as travelling salesman’s sample pieces, which
is when a few articles were made as scale models in advance
of a road trip on which the salesman would travel the country
showing prospective clients the kind of items that could be
produced back at the workshop and take orders from. There
can however be no question whatsoever that this is a sample
piece which would certainly have been made as a scale model
of to show potential customers when discussing the arrangements
and designs for fitting out their shop. It really is quite charming
indeed and just a well-made piece of 19th century history with
a wow factor due to the rarity of its design).

If you find that you are seriously interested in one, or a number of items, of our stock but unsure whether it will sit right in that alcove, or whether or colour will work with that chest of drawers already in place, then we may be able to help….

We have vans regularly on the road throughout mainland England and where practical and realistically possible are always pleased to offer prospective clients our approval service. Where possible we will not charge to bring the item/s out to you and place them in position in your home then take them away again should you choose not to purchase them. On some occasions there may be a nominal charge to cover the cost of our approval service, but this will always be discussed and explained to you in advance of our visit.

Please make it very clear when enquiring about an item, or items, if you intend to use the approval service as it must be agreed with us in advance of any further discussions re delivery timescales etc.
