A Charming Queen Anne Period, Early 18th Century Laburnum Wood, Oyster Veneered Glove Box Having Crossbanded Decoration To Hinged Top And Elegant Cross Grain Mouldings

Gloves were valued and fashionable items throughout the 17th and 18th centuries and indeed they were required to be worn by ladies whilst in attendance at court. The gloves which you could afford and their condition was very much a symbol of status, so it is natural that there were some very grand boxes made for the storage of these gloves to ensure they were maintained in the best possible way.

This particular example is over 300 years old and in excellent condition with some lovely banded decoration. It probably would have had a silk lined interior originally which has been removed at some point in its history leaving just a painted interior.

The box comes with working lock and key and as with all items which we offer for sale it has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, specialist antique furniture restorers who have given it a clean and natural wax polish.

We have vans regularly on the road throughout mainland England and where practical and realistically possible are always pleased to offer prospective clients our approval service. Where possible we will not charge to bring the item/s out to you and place them in position in your home then take them away again should you choose not to purchase them. On some occasions there may be a nominal charge to cover the cost of our approval service, but this will always be discussed and explained to you in advance of our visit.

Please make it very clear when enquiring about an item, or items, if you intend to use the approval service as it must be agreed with us in advance of any further discussions re delivery timescales etc.
