(Side tables from the first half of the 18th century
are often referred to as lowboys and nearly always
constructed from good, rich, solid timber due to the
plentiful supply of it at the time. This example retains
a wonderful colour and patin and has clearly been well
loved and preserved, as well as being well used
throughout the many years of its life. It retains its
original brasswear which in itself is remarkable for
an item which would have been very heavily used
throughout the near 300 years of its existence.)
