An Exceptional And Charming George II Period, 18th Century Walnut Chest, Of Extremely Rare Diminutive Proportions, Having Well Figured Quarter Veneered Top Over Four Long Drawers, With Old Replacement Brasswear, Chequered Stringing And Delightful Inlaid Sunburst To Bottom, Raised On Original Shaped Bracket Feet, Retaining Exceptional Untoched Colour And Patina Throughout.

It’s difficult to know what to talk about first with this simply beautiful little 18th century chest of drawers. It has so many outstanding features and such wonderful character that it’s almost impossible to do it justice with words alone.

It is extremely rare to find chest of drawers this size, well certainly ones that started their life this size anyway. It also boasts the most beautifully figured walnut veneers, which over time have aged spectacularly and now boast a rather wonderful warm colour and patina.

The brasswear is replaced, but very much in the style of the period and is all old in its own right. So actually there is nothing of concern in that respect, it all sits perfectly happily on the chest and the feet are also original which is nice.

From a practical perspective this little chest is small enough to be used just about anywhere that one desires, whilst from a collectors perspective it would be difficult to find another of this design that “sings” in quite the way this one does. Then of course there is one other perspective to take into account and that is the perspective that this is just simply a beautiful, fabulous piece of furniture, that one could spend hours enjoying the pleasure of looking at.

As with all items which we offer for sale this georgian chest has been inspected by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale. This ensures that it is ready to be placed straight into active service by it’s purchaser, whatever that may entail.
