A Good Quality Late Regency Period Mahogany Tub Library Armchair, Having Swept Upholstered Back With Attractive Scrolling Arms And Carved Moulded Decoration, Raised On Elegant Turned And Tapering Legs, Headed By Fine Tulip Carved Decoration, Terminating On Old Brass Cup Castors.

This is a quite charming late Regency period library armchair, with relatively compact proportions which leave it open to being utilised in a whole variety of different places around the home, for a whole host of differing purposes.

It is very good quality in terms of both its construction and the timbers used, being made from well chosen mahogany which has developed a pleasing rich colour and surface. The scrolling arms with their carved moulded decoration are particularly attractive and highlight the overall quality and elegance of the chair.

Another particularly good feature is the elegant turned and tapering legs, with finely executed tulip carved decoration to the upper sections. The brass cup castors may well not be original, but they are certainly old period replacements and sit extremely well.

One of the great attractions of an armchair such as this is its versatility. Whilst originally conceived as a library or drawing room chair, its compact proportions mean that today it could work equally well alongside a desk, in a bedroom or dressing room, or simply as an occasional armchair within a sitting room, without dominating the space.

As with all items which we offer for sale, this chair has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale, to ensure it is ready for immediate placement within the home. The upholstery has also been very recently replaced and is therefore in excellent condition.
