A Very Good Quality And Attractive George III Period, Late 18th Century Mahogany Octagonal Tea Caddy, Having Floral Decoration To Oval Inlaid Panels, Flanked By Matchstick Fluted Effect Inlaid Canted Corners.

This georgian tea caddy is typical in terms of the elongated octagonal shape and the two division lidded interior however the floral inlaid decoration found in various areas is really extremely well executed and a particularly fine detail which certainly adds to the elegance and appeal of this particular little tea caddy. It has no doubt been carried out by an extremely skilled craftsman with great attention to detail.

Tea was a precious commodity throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and the purpose of a tea caddy was not just to preserve the and extend the life of the precious tea leaves, but also to enable the owner to lock away those aforementioned valuable tea leaves, keeping them safe from the house staffs potential wandering hands.

This 18th century mahogany tea caddy has been inspected and attended to by our highly skilled, specialist antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale. The tea caddy also comes with working lock and key.

We have vans regularly on the road throughout mainland England and where practical and realistically possible are always pleased to offer prospective clients our approval service. Where possible we will not charge to bring the item/s out to you and place them in position in your home then take them away again should you choose not to purchase them. On some occasions there may be a nominal charge to cover the cost of our approval service, but this will always be discussed and explained to you in advance of our visit.

Please make it very clear when enquiring about an item, or items, if you intend to use the approval service as it must be agreed with us in advance of any further discussions re delivery timescales etc.
