English Georgian Elm Farmhouse Dining Table (England, circa 1760)
English Georgian Elm Farmhouse Dining Table (England, circa 1760)
A Stunning And Rarely Found Genuinely 18th Century Georgian English Elm Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table, Or Refectory Table, To Seat 8 Very Comfortably, Having Superbly Figured Plank Top Retaining Exceptional Untouched Colour And Patina, With One Frieze Drawer To End Retaining Original Brass Swan Neck Handle, Raised On Elegant Square Tapered Legs.
This wonderful farmhouse dining table boasts great size, comfortably seating 8 people, possibly even 10 on occasions and is the perfect shape to use in a whole variety of dining rooms and kitchens with all sorts of different styles and designs of chairs.
It is extremely rare to find English 18th century variations of the traditional farmhouse table still on the market and available for sale these days, instead by far the majority which are available for sale tend to be 19th century and French. It is even rarer to find them in such excellent condition retaining such a beautiful, rich, warm colour and patina. The lovely elm top has certainly aged gracefully and the whole table is just extremely untouched, exactly how one would hope to find a table of this age and whilst there is plenty of evidence of use throughout the many years of its life it remains just as functional as the day it was made. It also boasts a small drawer to the end which is a nice useful feature as well.
The square leg base is very sturdy and strong, whilst remaining very attractive, resulting in an incredibly sound, solid table. Another great feature is the stretcherless design, ensuring that there are no support stretchers getting in a persons way whilst they try to sit at the table.
An absolutely charming table of great size, which can comfortably seat 8 and is the perfect shape for just about any dining room and can be used with almost any kind of chairs.
As with all items we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
