An Extremely Good Quality And Very Attractive Late Regency Period Rosewood Tub Library Armchair, Having Well Figured Swept Back, With Carved Decoration To Bold Scrolling Arms, Raised On Elegant Baluster Turned Legs Headed By Lobed Carving, Terminating On Wonderful Original Lotus Design Brass Castors.

This is a particularly attractive late Regency period library armchair, of excellent quality throughout and constructed from extremely good, well figured rosewood which has retained a lovely rich colour and surface.

The bold scrolling arms are particularly striking, with their carved decoration giving the chair considerably more presence and character, whilst the elegant baluster turned front legs with lobed carved detail provide further evidence of the quality found throughout.

A particularly nice feature is the wonderful original brass castors, with their unusual lotus design decoration. These are both extremely attractive and a lovely detail to have survived with the chair for around 200 years.

Despite its relatively compact proportions this remains a very comfortable and practical armchair, making it extremely versatile for modern day use. It could work equally well as a library or desk chair, in a bedroom or dressing room, or simply as an occasional armchair within a sitting room without dominating the space around it.

As with all items which we offer for sale, this chair has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale, to ensure it is ready for immediate placement within the home. The upholstery has also been very recently replaced and is therefore in excellent condition.
