An Absolutely Superb Quality Victorian Period 19th Century Walnut Armchair Having Superbly Figured Moulded Frame And Richly Carved Foliate Decoration Throughout, The Bold Balloon Back Upholstered In Original Needlepoint Royal Coat Of Arms, Flanked By Elegant Scrolling Arms, Over Further Needlepoint Upholstered Seat And Elegantly Carved Cabriole Legs.

This is a really attractive and good quality victorian walnut chair which boasts really attractive original royal coat of arms needlepoint decoration. Your guess is as good as ours as to where, or who, this chair was originally made for, but our guess based on the lovely quality of construction and timbers used, plus the royal connection in terms of the upholstery is that it was probably somebody pretty important. The needlepoint is very pleasant and clearly been done by hand with great skill and attention.

Aside from the obvious feature of the coat of arms its worth noting that this chair is excellent quality and design in its own right. There is some very crisp and rich carved decoration and also the walnut which has been used in its construction is of a very high grade. It would suit a whole variety of spaces and functions around the home.

Overall both the chair itself and the needlepoint decoration are in pretty good condition with just the expected signs of age for something which is around 170 years or so old. Since purchasing the chair we have had to carry out very little restoration with just a light clean and natural wax polish carried out by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers to ensure it is ready for immediate placement.
