Regency Rosewood Octagonal Top Antique Centre Table (England, circa 1830)
A fine quality Regency period rosewood breakfast, or center, table having superbly figured
octagonal tilting top with superbly carved frieze raised on square central column with applied
carved anthemion decoration and quad form base with original carved paw feet.
(A superb example of it’s type this table is constructed from superbly figured and well
patinated, vivid rosewood and is of exceptional quality throughout. The tilting and
detachable top has a finely carved edge and there are some exceptionally well
carved anthemions on display at the bottom of the square column. There are
also four extremely well executed carved paw feet. The table has clearly been made
in a prominent, London workshop with access to the some of the very best carvers as
well as carpenters. Overall the condition is good and it exudes elegance. It is perfect as
both a center table in a hallway, or living room, or drawing room, but also alternatively as
a dining table and will comfortably seat six.).
