An Extremely Rare Pair Of Early 18th Century, George I Period, Walnut Upholstered Side Chairs, Having High Backs And Generous Seats, Upholstered With Velor Style Fabric, Raised On Very Elegant Cabriole Legs, With Moulded Decoration, Terminating On Block Pad Feet, To Front And Back.

This fabulous pair of chairs are over 300 years old and still as fit for purpose as the day they were made. Simple in their design, but at the same time incredibly elegant they really are quite beautiful and a real proper example of quality early 18th century furniture.

The scale of the chairs is very good and they remain in relatively excellent condition all things considered. The walnut cabriole legs are well made and have great shape and posture to them, helping the chairs to stand tall and proud. The legs also feature just a couple of tiny carved mouldings which accentuate the overall class of the chairs.

The fabric is a velour type, of very neutral colour. It has clearly been in place for some time, although actually it is in pretty good condition and again is relatively clean overall when taking into account its been on a fair while. It is certainly more than presentable enough to stay in place should one wish, although the chairs would also be very easily reupholstered should the purchaser wish to do so.

Overall the condition of these chairs is excellent and it is so rare to find this type of chair from such an early period, let alone a pair of them. There are many, many 19th and 20th century copy examples available for sale on the market but these are definitely early 18th century examples and therefore have ther character and charm one would expect to match.
