Queen Anne English Walnut 18th Century Chest of Drawers (England, circa 1710)
Queen Anne English Walnut 18th Century Chest of Drawers (England, circa 1710)
A delightful early 18th century Queen Anne period walnut chest having superbly figured quarter veneered top over two short and three long drawers with replaced brass handles and elegant herringbone banded decoration throughout raised on replacement turned bun feet (Take a moment to consider worth that this piece is over 300 years old, yet as fit for purpose as the day it was made, as well as being beautiful and attractive. The top has been quarter veneered which is always a sign of quality and its although both the handles and feet are later replacements, which is most common for chests of this age, both been thoughtfully done and the newer variants are very much of the design which would have been in place originally. Another nice feature of this piece is the well figured and banded ends which clearly great effort has been put into and that is not very often the case on items this made this early with the ends generally an afterthought. All in all an extremely useful, beautiful & functional piece that has been in existence for 3 centuries already!). Circa 1710 Height – 35in Width – 40in Depth – 22in
