Queen Anne Burr Walnut Hanging Corner Cupboard (England, circa 1710)
Queen Anne Burr Walnut Hanging Corner Cupboard (England, circa 1710)
A Stunning And Extremely Rare Early 18th Century Queen Anne Period Burr Walnut Hanging Corner Cupboard, Having Elegant Broken Swan Neck Pediment To Top, Over Attractive Central Set Inlaid Star And Fielded Panel Door, With Featherbanded Decoration, Enclosing Two Fixed Shelves To Interior, Retaining Exceptional Untouched Colour And Surface Throughout.
This is one of the best early hanging corner cupboards which we have come across and considering that it is over 300 years old then it has certainly survived in great condition. Clearly well cherished throughout its life, the many years of day to day use and dusting has created a wonderfully untouched surface which really is a standout feature of the piece and something which would be impossible to reproduce.
Corner cupboards, particularly hanging ones, are of course a great solution to a room which is lacking storage and already has full walls. This is of course due to the fact they can be mounted in the corner and add a decent amount more of functional storage to a space which wouldn’t be in use otherwise. They also of course add real elegance and a slightly different dimension.
Overall the condition is extremely good, just a few old marks, scuffs, scatches and dents which are to be expected on a piece of furniture which has been well used and is over 300 years old. It also comes supplied with working lock and key.
As with all items which we list for sale this queen anne corner cupboard has received a natural wax polish by our traditional antique furniture restorers before being advertised for sale.
Circa 1710.
Height 38.5in.
Width 28in. (This measurement is across the front of the cupboard)
Depth 19.5in. (This measurement is how far along a wall from the corner the cupboard would protrude)
