Georgian Style Mahogany Oval Butlers Tray On Stand (England, circa 1920)
Georgian Style Mahogany Oval Butlers Tray On Stand (England, circa 1920)
A good quality early 20th century mahogany oval Butlers tray in the Georgian style having panelled Construction and original brass hinges to folding Sides raised on later square tapered leg stand (Always a good answer to the age old problem of their being no such thing as what we regard a coffee table these in Modern Times being made during antique times is the butlers tray on low stand. This particular example is excellent quality, but appears to have been made during the early 20th century in the Georgian style. As is the case with most of these trays, this one has been removed from its original folding waist height stand and placed onto a stand of lower height to make it into an extremely useful coffee table. The stand is well executed and was probably made around 50 years or so ago. The tray itself is in good condition and retains a nice colour and patina. Certainly fit for purpose it would no doubt prove both an elegant and functional addition to any room of the house).
