Georgian Mahogany Antique Pair of Bedside Night Tables (England, circa 1800)
Georgian Mahogany Antique Pair of Bedside Night Tables (England, circa 1800)
A very good quality and exceptionally well matched pair of
George III period mahogany bedside night tables, or tray top
Commodes, having very well figured shaped gallery tops
With pierced handles above tambour doors and converted
Pullout drawers raised on square chamfered legs
(These are a great example of the stereotypical Georgian bedside night
table. They have almost certainly been produced in the same workshop with
nearly identical construction and just some very minor differences between
them, as is often the case with these objects. Certainly we regularly see
matched pairs of these that are nowhere near as similar as these ones and
these are probably the closest you will get to a matching pair without paying
out for a much more significantly expensive "true pair" which are also
very rarely found.
They continue to prove an extremely popular option for bedside tables
due to their relative sturdiness (especially when compared to various other
bedside options), the storage they are able to offer and the tray
type tops which make it much less likely items perched on top
will get knocked over.),
circa 1800
Measures: Height 32in
Width 19.5in
Depth 17.5in.
