English Georgian Small Mahogany Cheval Dressing Mirror (England, circa 1800)
English Georgian Small Mahogany Cheval Dressing Mirror (England, circa 1800)
A very attractive George III period Georgian mahogany
cheval mirror of unusually small proportions having elegant
square supports surmounted with urn finials over square
stretchers and elegant sabre legs with original brass castors.
(This cheval mirror is lovely quality, constructed from excellent
quality mahogany and retaining delightful carved urn finials and
original brassier. It is a particularly unusual proportion, being smaller
than the normal size found and we wonder if maybe it was originally
made for a childs bedroom. Alternatively it may just have been
especially commissioned for a much more diminutive than standard
person. Either way there is certainly no doubt whatsoever that no
expense was spared in the construction and it would certainly make
both a practical and incredibly elegant addition to any room now.)
