Antique Regency Rosewood Breakfront Side Cabinet (England, circa 1810)
Antique Regency Rosewood Breakfront Side Cabinet (England, circa 1810)
A Stunning Quality Regency Period Rosewood Breakfront Side Cabinet The Highly Figured Top Above Four Silk Panel Doors Concealing Drawers To Centre And Sliding Trays To Ends, Flanked By Elegant Ropetwist Turned Columns And Profusely Inlaid With Brass Throughout Standing On Original Plinth Base
This cabinet has almost certainly been produced by one of the best cabinet making firms of the time due to the high quality materials used in all parts of the construction including the concealed drawers & trays, which are faced with decorative rosewood veneers. It also bears a paper label to the underside of a drawer lining, stating who the cabinet was made for and where they lived. Unfortunately the label doesn’t state the maker but based on the overall quality & design, along with the particularly fine & distinctive brass inlay we suggest George Oakley.
