19th Century Mahogany Miniature Tripod Table

19th Century Mahogany Miniature Tripod Table (England, circa 1840)

SOLD

An attractive and very good quality mid-19th century
mahogany miniature table having well figured circular
tilting top raised on elegant turned column terminating
on tripod legs.

(Almost certainly made as a travelling salesman’s sample piece
of furniture which would have been used to display to potential
customers what could be produced on a larger scale back at the
workshops and take orders from this is in excellent condition
and very well made. It bears the stamp of a "B. Sheperd" whom
unfortunately there appears to be little reference to in historical
publications. Just about tall enough to be used alongside a chair
this beautiful and collectible piece still has a practical and functional
purpose in and around the modern day home.)
