18th Century English Yew Tea Caddy

18th Century English Yew Tea Caddy (England, circa 1780)

SOLD

A delightful late 18th century George III period burr
yew wood tea caddy having domed lid and crossbanded
decoration with fully working lock and key.

(Tea caddies were used to both preserve the tea leaves, but also
to lock it away and protect it from any wandering hands. This particular
example is very attractive and the fact it is yew wood only adds to the
elegance. Another nice touch is the crossbanded decoration.
It also comes supplied with a fully functioning key.)
