A Very Good Quality Late 19th Century Mahogany
Double Wellington Chest Of Twelve Drawers
Having Replacement Brass Knobs Flanked
By Hinged Locking Pilasters Raised
On Original Plinth Base

(This wellington chest is of a form rarely found in
terms of the double bank of drawers. It is exceptional
quality with solid mahogany drawer linings which still
run as smoothly as the day they were made. It is a very
useful and functional size and although the knobs are
later replacements the style of them works very well
indeed with the overall feel of the piece. It is commonly
believed that the first Duke of Wellington, Arthur
Wellesley, commissioned the first chest of this type, i.e.
a tall bank of drawers secured by hinged locking pilasters)
