A charming and very good quality George II period
18th century solid mahogany chest retaining rich
color and patina throughout with well figured
rectangular top over two short and three long
drawers with some original brasswear raised on
original shaped bracket feet

(This charming chest of drawers is unusually early in date
having been constructed circa 1730. Because of this
early dateline there was much less concern over the
amount of wood used during the construction and it
benefits therefore from being solid. It has managed to
building up a wonderful untouched color and surface
over the 300 years of its existence which is impossible
to recreate. Some of the brassier is original and all of the
feet are original which is really quite some achievement
after all those years. It is a good, small size whilst still being
big enough and sturdy enough to be very useful and is
relatively low so could almost certainly be used alongside
a bed as well as in a plethora of other traditional spots
for chests of drawers. This is a real quality piece of furniture
which just to reiterate is nearly 300 years old but as fit
for purpose as the day it was made!)
